In another special episode of “The Show”, Vassilis Skountis seizes the opportunity to talk all things basketball and more with sports journalist Vangelis Ioannou who is not shy about some never-before-told stories! Vangelis talks about the triumph of the 1987 EuroBasket igniting his love for sports, growing up idolizing Patrick Ewing, following the steps of Peja Stojakovic in his early days in Greece, his encounter with Nick Galis, Panagiotis Giannakis, Dusan Ivkovic, Kobe Bryant, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, as well as being present in the 2005 EuroBasket and the FIBA 2006 World Cup and baptizing professional players with so many unique nicknames!

Vangelis is a graduate of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science (TEFAA) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while he has also attended the two-year course of the Postgraduate Program in Sport Management of the Institute of Sports Entrepreneurship (2010-2012). He started his professional career in 1993 as an editor of the sports department, first for the newspaper Ethnos and then for the newspaper Eleftheros Typos. He was a collaborator at the sports department of Radio Thessaloniki and a collaborator as a sports reporter at the FLASH 9.61 Radio Station and the newspaper Proto Thema. He later became the editor-in-chief of the sports department at the newspaper Press Time and between the years 1998-2010 he was the editor-in-chief of basketball at the newspaper Fos. He moved on to the public station of ERT, as the director of sports programs, as editor-in-chief of sports news and as an editor of sports reports and news. He was also the editor-in-chief of a sports department for Public Television.

He has been a Spokesperson for the Panhellenic Association of Professional Basketball Players (1998-2003) and the Hellenic Association of Basketball Societes Anonymes (2003-2008), as well as the broadcasting voice for major sporting events, such as the 1998 World Basketball Championship and the 2008 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

In 2006 he was awarded by the Panhellenic Sports Press Association with the award for the best reportage of the year and in 2008 for the exclusive interview with Usain Bolt at the Beijing Olympics. In 2012 he was awarded by the Panhellenic Sports Press Association for the best description of the year and by the EuroLeague for the description of the final between Olympiacos B.C. and CSKA Moscow.
