Celebrating the First NFL Flag Football Event in Greece With Trading Cards & Memorabilia from Trace ‘n Chase!

In October 2025, history was made on the volcanic shores of Santorini as, for the first time ever, the Los Angeles Chargers brought NFL Flag Football to Greece — as part of the Santorini Experience!

 

⚡ A Milestone Moment for Sport and Culture

Over three unforgettable days (October 10–12), Santorini became a melting pot of sport, culture, and youth enthusiasm. The Chargers organized youth camps for ages 11–13 and 13+, giving boys and girls from the island a chance to learn flag football from the ground up — with expert guidance, safety, and fun. 

The event also featured a high-energy exhibition game, uniting NFL legends and active athletes — including former Chargers running back Melvin Gordon, Greek-American Super Bowl veteran Niko Koutouvides, coach/player Melina Malaxos, members of Greece’s premier American-football club Aegean Elite, and Chargers’ coaching staff — giving local fans a spectacular first taste of the sport. 

To celebrate and honor this landmark, the event concluded with a watch-party on the island, where fans gathered to watch live as the Chargers secured a thrilling 29–27 win over the Miami Dolphins.

We believe that sport is more than what happens on the field — it’s about heritage, community, and shared passion. That’s why our contribution to this first-ever Greek NFL event was to supply trading cards and memorabilia that added real heart and meaning to the youth camps and fan gatherings.

From proud kids clutching their first NFL card to families cheering at the exhibition game — those moments spoke louder than words. Our memorabilia brought the spirit of the hobby to the island, reinforcing how sport can inspire, unite, and build a sense of belonging.

The arrival of flag football in Santorini represents more than just a game — it’s a bridge between cultures. The Chargers’ initiative honors their deep Greek roots (through the Spanos family’s heritage), while inviting a new generation of Hellenic youth to experience a sport that blends athleticism, teamwork, and fun. 

As flag football moves toward its official debut in the 2028 Olympic Games, the significance of this moment grows even larger. For many kids on Santorini, this weekend was their first encounter with the sport — and maybe the first step toward something much bigger.

We are proud to have helped deliver a piece of the NFL-hobby experience to Santorini.
