2x EuroLeague champion and 2005 EuroBasket winner Nikos Chatzivrettas talks to Vassilis Skountis in a rare interview at “The Show” where the former professional opens up about his long basketball career and his turn to the developmental side of the game where he has established 10Academy (Doxa Elpidos Basketball Academy), one of the fastest growing basketball and volleyball academies in Greece, with Alex Samodurov the latest reclamation project!

Born in Thessaloniki, Chatzivretta’s career began in 1990 in his hometown where he played for Aias Evosmos, while at the age of 20 he transferred to Iraklis Thessaloniki and became the top scorer of the A1 Greek National Division in 2002 (22.2 points per game), the first Greek player after Nikos Galis to become the top scorer in A1 and one of the seven Greek players to become the leading scorer of the Championship since 1988, when foreign players were allowed to participate. In the summer of 2002, he signed with CSKA Moscow, winning the Russian Championship and reaching the EuroLeague Final 4 in Barcelona. In the 2003-04 season, he returned to Greece and to Panathinaikos B.C. and transformed from a talented striker to a very capable defender under the guidance of Zeljko Obradovic. In total with Panathinaikos he won six Greek league championships, five Greek cups and two EuroLeagues. In 2009 he returned to Thessaloniki on behalf of Aris, a team in which he ended his career in 2011. On April 23rd, 2019, he was honored by Panathinaikos as one of the most important persons in the history of the team on the celebration of 100 years of basketball history.
Hatzivrettas also competed with the national team and was a member of the National Team of Greece that won the 2005 EuroBasket, while the following year he became the runner-up at the World Men’s Basketball Championship 2006. After retiring from basketball, he created the Basketball Academy 10A (DEKA), in his hometown Evosmos, Thessaloniki, where he is the Director and Coach.
